This useful 6 tray, electrically heated, windowsill propagator from Parasene is an ideal beginners propagator to start growing all sorts of plants from seed. The 6 individual vented seed trays allow you to mix different plant types and the heated bottom tray gives the added boost for faster seed germination. The 13 watt non thermostatic heating element is very economical but provides usefully warm temperature when the unit is positioned indoors in a well lit warm window. Best not placed in a sunny windows as direct sunlight will cook any small seedlings very quickly!

A larger, economical, continual heat 18W entry level propagator, ideal for successful seed raising where bottom heat is required.  A large rigid clear top with adjustable ventilation vents covers a base unit capable of housing 2 by 22cm and 1 by 38cm seed trays (all included) and 5 additional small pots for growing on (also included). If you use this unit in a warm indoor position or heated conservatory or greenhouse it should provide sufficient heat to raise most of our tropical seeds without the expense of a thermostatically controlled propagator. Most standard propagators do not have the high temperature range, enough power requirements, flexibility of use or the accuracy of a remote probe to ensure that seed germination of tropical seeds is controlled accurately. This solution from JungleSeeds comprises of a 65 watt Bio Green 75cm x 40cm heat mat, a Garland heavy duty 76cm x 40cm x 5cm plastic water tray, three quality standard seed trays and three quality fully ventilated Sankey propagator perspex tops. We also include a sheet of bubble wrap cut to size to form an insulated base for the heat mat. Note: the heatmat must be positioned under the water tray (Not inside the tray).

This propagator has all the features for successful seed raising.  The variable thermostatic control allows you to select the temperature required (0C to 40C), and the thermostat probe can be positioned just where you need it most to control the temperature of either the air inside the propagator, or the seed compost. When you are not raising seeds the flexible heat mat can either be stored away or used to provide bottom heat for bringing on tender tropical plants in pots.

Based on many years of experience you normally only need small seed containers for initial germination in a propagator. For growing plants in larger quantities of course normal half or full size seed trays are ideal but for smaller quantities try using these clear polypropylene containers.

• A normal full size 38cm seed tray will house 8 of these containers maximising your heated space.
• They have the advantage of being able to see any initial roots through the clear sides and base.
• They can be removed individually as soon as plants are too large, ready for pricking out.
• Each container can be easily turned around if the seedlings are bending one way towards the light.
• The low height is sufficient for initial root development but maximises growing height within a propagator lid.
