Alyssum Easter Bonnet

JS2725

Alyssum montanum Mountain Gold

JS2724
!
Mountain madwort Aprx 100 seeds җ җ җ
I have never been without this useful and easy-to-grow spectacular spring flowering plant in our garden. Low-growing 7 to 10cm and evergreen it produces masses of bright yellow flowers in clusters in late-spring. It's a perfect companion for spring bulbs or purple aubrietia  on a rock garden or bank, but also good in difficult, dry Mediterranean theme situations such as on a hollow topped wall or cracks in paving. It can also be used as a containerised specimen. It thrives in the poorest soil provided it's well-drained. Annual trimming after flowering prolongs the life of plants, improves later flowering and keeps plants compact.

Alyssum Wonderland

!
Bedding Alyssum Aprx 300 Seeds

This classic bedding Alyssum produces scented flowering dwarf plants with a vigorous spread. All are well-matched for plant height and bloom timing. Height: 4", 12" spread. We offer these in deep purple, deep pink and the traditional white colour.

Aquilegia F1 Origami Mixed

JS2598
!
Columbine 10 seeds җ җ җ
This unique variety flowers the first year from seed because the cold stratification requirement is only 14-21 days with temperatures as high as 10C. An October/November sowing produces April/May flowering plants. Its hybrid vigour translates to a free flowering 12" to 18" habit with exceptional uniformity across all 6 colours that are clean and bright.

Baptisia australis Caspian Blue

JS2626
!
False Indigo 10 Seeds җ җ җ
Baptisia forms a spectacular multi-stemmed plant specimen in the flower garden capped with lupine-like spires of this rich yet subtle shade of blue.  Each floret is centred white offering eye-catching contrast.  After flowering the uniform, vase shape of the plant bears rich green foliage all season offering a most pleasing architectural form. Native to North America it is fully hardy eventually forming a clump 1 metre tall and about 2ft wide. Drought tolerant once established. Best planted in a sunny position in a free draining sandy or gritty soil.

Campanula carpatica Pearl Deep Blue

JS2661
!
Carpathian harebell Aprx 50 seeds җ җ җ
Carpatica are a robust, rock garden species, and will thrive on sunny walls or banks. They require moist, very well-drained soil and will grow in either sun or partial shade. Pearl Deep Blue blooms 2-3 weeks earlier than the species and is covered in cup-shaped 2 inch wide, vivid violet blue flowers with a lighter centre over dark green foliage from late spring to late summer. Regular dead heading increases the flowering period. Good choice for edging, containers, the front of borders, or growing among rocks.

Campanula Champion Mixed

JS2708
!
Canterbury Bells 10 seeds
Canterbury Bells are an old favourite with tall, open spikes of bell-shaped flowers. This one though can be grown from seed each year without the hassle of trying to over winter them as a biennial (mine always seem to die in bad winters!)  The Champion series sports 1" to 2"inch-long, upward-facing flowers in four colours: Blue, Pink, Light Blue and Lavender on spikes to 2ft tall and often used as a cut flower.

Canna tuerckheimii

JS2831
!
Species Indian Shot 10 seeds
This giant Canna, native of Belize, has huge green foliage and a branching habit, the spikes of small flowers typical of a species Canna are crimson but with the plant growing to 16ft you might need a step ladder to admire them! Great for a tropical foliage effect from seed.

Carica pubescens

JS2574
!
Mountain Papaya

One of the parents of the Babaco hybrid this cool tolerant Papaya will tolerate short spells down to frost level but best grown in warm humid conditions. We think that like the Babaco it will be easier to overwinter than normal Papaya in a heated glasshouse. The fruit is smaller and although it can be eaten raw is best cooked or made into jam. A small branching tree not more than 6ft in pots which will take a few years to achieve even in ideal conditions.

Cineraria Maritima Cirrus

JS2664
!
Dusty Miller Apprx 100 seeds
An old favourite for border edging, tubs, containers and hanging baskets with bright silver foliage all summer. I often use this variety for its larger leaves and bold effect in borders. For smaller containers or hanging baskets please use the "Silver Dust" variety. For the best plants a really early spring sowing in heat under glass is essential as from my experience they are initially slow to develop.

Cineraria Maritima Silver Dust

Cytisus scoparius Broom

JS2723
!
Scotch Broom mixed colours 10 seeds җ җ
The ornamental broom plant, or Cytisus, is a lovely short lived shrub with evergreen, long whip-like branches covered in small leaves. The pea-like flowers bloom from late spring through mid-summer in shades of red, yellow, white pink and some bi-colours from our hybrid seed mix. Resistant to pests and tolerant of dry weather changes, the broom plant is ideal for a low-maintenance garden. I used to grow these all the time but it seems to have gone out of fashion for some reason which is a shame, perhaps because it is seen as a weed in some countries. However it never gave me any problems and it can be kept pruned to size for a few years before becoming leggy.

Dahlia Cactus Flowered Mixed

JS2797
!
Cactus Bedding Dahlia Aprx 50 seeds җ
These superb bold flowered dahlias produce large, spiky 'cactus' blooms in a range of attractive colours. They are quite tall plants to 4ft, making them ideal for creating a statement in bedding displays or herbaceous borders, where they are particularly useful for filling in gaps that appear as other plants go to seed. They are frost tender, but can be re-used each year if the tubers are lifted in the autumn and stored in a frost-free place.

Dendroseris litoralis

JS2623
!
A very rare tree!
Cabbage Tree 3 seeds

This unusual plant comes from a small, isolated group of islands 400 miles off the coast of Chile with temperatures typically 10C to 25C.  At one point there were only 3 plants left in the late 1980s, and today it is still critically endangered.  It is usually only found in botanical gardens, making it one of the rarest plants in cultivation. If you can provide the right conditions, it will be an exciting plant to grow.

It is an evergreen, perennial species in the daisy and sunflower family.  It's unusual in that it has woody, tree-like stems, and rubbery, tennis racket-sized edible leaves (hence the common name) up to 18" long. It grows to about 6ft if pot grown in cool conservatory or greenhouse conditions kept frost free.

Blue Dune Grass Aprx 25 Seeds  җ җ җ
A stunning clump forming perennial grass with attractive wide leaves of glaucus blue/grey. Looks good in a border but it will need containing as it can be an aggessive runner. Height 60cm (24in) with a 150cm (60in) flower spike. We have planted ours in an island bed in a lawn where the running shoots get mown off which seems to contain it quite well.
