Bromeliad species 10 seeds
A delightful species bromeliad that clumps quickly into a great specimen plant. Native to Mexico and Belize to Brazil and Colombia. Popular as an ornamental plant; it is widely grown for its nice foliage and beautiful flowers. If pollinated, the red berries change colour to white and then turn dark blue. Sometimes a challenge to grow from seeds but they make an excellent interior plant that is easily cared for so well worth a try.

Aechmea recurvata

New for 2012!
Bromeliad 10 seeds

Aechmea recurvata is a variable tough cold hardy species from the bromeliad family. It is a plant from Chile and Uruguay where I originally acquired seeds to grow our own stock plants. It can grow to a height of 60 cm but usually smaller and makes an excellent and unusual house plant. The purple flowered inflorescence protrude above the foliage and are quite spectacular, up to 20 cm tall and bearing different tints of red. The foliage consists of 30 cm long rigid and curving leaves that turn a spectacular red in the centre while it is in flower - absolutely stunning as you can see in the picture taken from our own flowering plants.

The ends of the leaves and the sides are a bit spiky the only slight negative about this plant, and they do need full but not burning sunshine when coming into flower to get the best colouration and water sparingly.

New for 2012!
Voodoo Lily 5 tubils

We can also offer small 2cm to 3cm bulbils of this plant saving about a years worth of growing from seed.

Amorphophallus bulbifer is one of the prettiest of the Voodoo Lilies and the inflorescence doesn’t smell that bad compared to others of the genus. This Voodoo Lily likes shade plus a sheltered location and can be grown in pots outside for the summer. They are quite easy to grow and become dormant in the winter when it should be kept on the dry side. Once the tuber is mature enough, you will see a flower in the spring, otherwise just a leaf. Feed during the growing season

Canarina canariensis

JS3218
!
Rare! - New for 2012!
Canary Bell Flower 10 seeds

Canarina canariensis is a rare member of the Campanula family from the Canary Islands. This tuberous plant makes glossy, orangey-red striped blossoms throughout winter given a frost free location. Best at temperatures below 25°C in the summer when it becomes dormant to help protect against drought conditions with underground tubers like a dahlia.

In late summer, long, scrambling shoots appear, with arrow-shaped, jagged-edged leaves. The 5' to 9' long shoots meander up through other plants or along the ground.  The striking, 2" bell-shaped flowers appear in late fall or winter. The foliage then dies down to the tubers in the spring, until growth resumes in the autumn. Useful for winter flowering in a cool semi shaded conservatory when it can be pot grown and trained up a trellis.

Himalayan Daphne 10 seeds җ
Originating in the eastern Himalayas, Daphne bholua forms an upright growing evergreen shrub with leathery mid-green oval leaves. It produces intensely fragrant flowers which are pink on the outside and white within. It will thrive on any fertile free draining soils provided they are not too dry. It makes an ideal shrub for the small garden because it is quite slow growing and flowers during the late winter when most other plants are dormant. Daphnes hate transplanting and should only be pruned when absolutely necessary. The only problem is that the shrub is only partially hardy to about -5C and will defoliate after frosts and will need some expertise and patience to raise from seed.

Golden Penda 20 seeds
Xanthostemon chrysanthus, is relatively unknown outside of Australia but a very desirable garden plant for warmer climates or as a Greenhouse pot plant. The glorious, dense flower heads are well displayed at branches ends and are bright yellow reminiscent of a Bottlebrush. Flowering time is from winter through early spring and it flowers reliably  often within 2-3 years from seed in ideal conditions. In native rainforest environments the tree can grow up to 40-50 ft, however in gardens it may reach only 15-20 ft and in pots much smaller. It responds well to pruning and can be easily shaped into a manageable sized shrub. The plant is pretty hardy, tolerates dry soil and can even take light frosts.

Everlasting flower Aprx 200 seeds n b
One of the prettiest annual everlasting flowers; they are simply charming in borders with an abundance of 1" to 2" wide, dainty blossoms in four distinct colours of white, rose, crimson and purple. The attractive double paper like blooms are held on strong stems of silver-green foliage and have a papery feel. They are excellent for cutting, and if dried are useful for winter decoration to brighten up those dull days. They will even do well in poor soil but need a sunny position and branch out to 70cm tall.
