Verbena bonariensis is a tender perennial flower that adds height and wispiness to the garden and flower arrangements but in the UK probably best grown as an annual from an early sowing. It is a tall plant that has small delicate, vibrant metallic purple flowers that are held high on 1.5m thin, ridgid but square stems. It adds impact to borders and in a vase when used in numbers. To try and overwinter outside provide a protective mulch around them in the autumn with leaf mould or compost.

Wonderful for middle and late summer flowering in borders, beds window boxes and containers. This selection provides clusters of brilliant flowers all with a white eye on compact spreading plants. The trailing habit also provides colourful blooms for containers. Superior heat and mildew tolerance. and Obsession is earlier than most other seed raised verbenas on the market.

This well known Chinese Wisteria is a climbing vine with scented blue-violet 12" flowers in pendulous clusters in mid-April. It is distinguished from the Japanese Wisteria by larger flowers and shorter racemes.

When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Chinese Wisteria has a fast growth rate. It grows up to 30 feet in height and 30 feet in spread, preferring full sun and moist, well-drained soil. The plant will take a few years to reach maturity and flower but well worth the wait, it can also be used for bonsai work if you prefer. I have also grown these as standards in a central lawn location, requiring some support for a few years but the cascading effect in flower was quite spectacular.

We have managed to collect some fresh seed of this rare pink hybrid Zantedeschia aethiopica lily for the 2010 season. A fantastic complement to the white or green form, this water loving variety is quite hardy capable of taking frost and re-growing from the root stock in spring.

Zantedeschia albomaculata is a summer rainfall species from eastern southern Africa found in marshy ground on rocky or grassy mountainsides. It is a medium/tall plant with arrow shaped leaves that have white spots. It has white or creamy calla like spathes not quite so open as aethiopica and not quite as hardy.
