Ginger Plants

Ornamental Ginger Plants (Not the edible Ginger which is Zingiber officinale)

Tropical Ginger plants and in particular the Hedychium Ginger from JungleGardens are another favourite of mine which I have been growing for about 30 years. The strong rhizomatic root systems throw annual shoots to 6 ft topped by a dense head of flowers in late summer which look and smell gorgeous. They are hardier than most people realise and given a warm south facing wall with a protective mulch in winter, they will survive reasonable frosts. However because of our short growing season they may not reach flowering maturity outside, unless in a hot sun pocket. The alternative is to dig them up and place into large pots for late flowering and over wintering under glass in a frost free greenhouse or conservatory and started into growth in early spring.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NO LONGER BE SELLING THESE GINGER PLANTS IN FUTURE YEARS SO THIS MAY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE OF ACQUIRING SOMETHING UNUSUAL AND RARE!

Any mixed orders with other products will not be accepted. Plant orders are only accepted for UK delivery addresses and surcharge areas may require additional shipping charges.
