A slender, deciduous shrub from South Africa, usually treated as an annual as it is quick and easy to grow. Best pinched out at the 5th leaf stage to encourage branching, the stems then produce insignificant flowers that magically transform into unusual translucent, soft, spiny balls. Unusual and popular for cut flower arrangements.
