A very useful biennial, both for it's architectural impact and as a herb. It can be added to fruits like gooseberries and rhubarb to reduce the acidity and as confectionery for cake decorations made by simmering new stems in spring and then storing in sugar. Much loved by pollinators too. Will self seed around.
