Bismarckia nobilis is a massive tropical palm and simply stunning with its startling silver blue foliage. It may reach an ultimate height of 50-60 ft (15-18m) with a spread of 20 ft (6m) in the tropics but even young specimens that have yet to form a trunk sport full impressive crowns. The huge palmate leaves are a bright light blue, waxy and can reach 10 ft (3m) across. Worth a try as a large pot plant for a heated conservatory just for the novelty?
